This represents a decline of 3.6 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, continuing the slight downturn observed for several months now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The advertising market also remained below the previous year\u2019s level in June: with gross advertising pressure of CHF 308.9 million, the traditional advertising market recorded a drop of 3.4 percent. However, this is not surprising in June, given the seasonal summer slump. In comparison, the figure fell just 0.7 percent in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The different trends within the media groups are striking. While all the traditional channels \u2013 with the exception of <strong>TV<\/strong> \u2013 recorded growth in May, June painted a more nuanced picture. Only <strong>out-of-home advertising<\/strong> resisted the downward trend, increasing by 10.0 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first half of the year (YTD), <strong>out-of-home<\/strong> (+2.7%) and <strong>cinema<\/strong> (+5.9%) notched up positive growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The digital advertising market also closed the first half of the year significantly down: gross advertising pressure amounted to CHF 708.4 million, which corresponds to a decline of 32.5 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ranking within the \u201cdigital\u201d advertising market remains stable: <strong>search<\/strong> is the leader of the pack with a market share of 44.0 percent, followed by <strong>display<\/strong> (40.2%) and <strong>YouTube<\/strong> (15.8%). Although <strong>YouTube<\/strong> grew by 7.7 percent in June, the channel lags significantly behind the two leading digital formats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The traditional advertising market and the digital channels (search, YouTube, display) are shown separately to enable better comparability with the previous year. Fluctuations in online recording can be exacerbated by external influences \u2013 in particular, by technical updates undertaken by major platforms such as Google or YouTube. In June, CHF 34.3 million was again sufficient for it to secure the top spot. It posted a sizable increase of 24.9 percent compared to the same month in the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the <strong>media sector<\/strong> recorded the highest percentage increase in June: with advertising pressure of CHF 3.4 million, this represents a marked uptick of 30.6 percent compared with the same month in the previous year. This was driven by factors including a campaign by the NZZ, as well as advertising for movies and pay-TV services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other sectors experiencing significant growth included <strong>services<\/strong> (+11.8%), <strong>personal care<\/strong> (+10.9%), <strong>digital &#038; household<\/strong> (+10.3%) and <strong>food <\/strong>(+9.7%). The <strong>financial sector<\/strong> grew by 3.6 percent, while <strong>construction, industry &#038; furnishings<\/strong> (+2.1%) and <strong>public transport <\/strong>(+3.4%) also performed positively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Clear downturn for energy, tobacco and cosmetics<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, 12 sectors recorded declines. The <strong>energy sector<\/strong> was the hardest hit, with a drop of 63.6 percent, followed by the <strong>tobacco sector<\/strong> (-48.3%). Both sectors are at the bottom end of the table, with advertising pressure of CHF 1.4 million and CHF 1.3 million respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cosmetics &#038; toiletries<\/strong> (-34.7%) and <strong>pharmaceuticals &#038; health<\/strong> (-16.2%) also experienced a clear decline. Further significant reductions were recorded by <strong>beverages<\/strong> (-11.6%), <strong>cleaning<\/strong> (-9.2%) and <strong>fashion &#038; sport<\/strong> (-6.8%). The <strong>leisure, gastronomy &#038; tourism<\/strong> sector recorded a downturn of 6.4 percent, while <strong>telecommunications<\/strong> dropped by 6.0 percent in June despite the positive annual trend. <strong>Vehicles<\/strong> (-26.4%) and <strong>events<\/strong> (-2.1%) round off the group of sectors that saw a decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"
